Dataset description
Activation date: 2022-07-30
Event type: Forest fire, wild fire

Activation reason:
The CEMS Risk and Recovery Standard (RRM STD) has been activated by the Spanish General Directorate of Civil Protection and Emergencies (CENEM) on behalf of the Ministry of Interior of Spain, D. G. Guardia Civil and Jefatura del Seprona, following the forest fires that broke out in the municipalities of Casas de Miravete and Jerte – Caceres, in the region of Extremadura (Spain), between 14 and 16 July 2022. Several hectares of the Monfragüe National park and the Reserva Natural de la Garganta de los Infiernos were burnt. The goal of the activation is to provide wildfire damage delineation and grading products that will support the police investigation and the damage assessment over two AOIs: AOI01-Casas de Miravete and AOI02-Jerte.The P07 Wildfire delineation and grading products have been generated by using post-event VHR satellite images. In AOI01-CASAS DE MIRAVETE the analysis resulted in 2793.14 ha burnt, of which 85.40 ha only slightly damaged, 310.71 ha moderately damaged, 1053.59 ha highly damaged and 1343.44 ha destroyed. While in AOI02-JERTE, the results were 161.78 ha burnt, of which 88.07 ha only slightly damaged, 48.24 ha moderately damaged, 15.68 ha highly damaged, and 9.79 ha destroyed. The P14 Impact assessment analysis on assets and population in AOI01-CASAS DE MIRAVETE shows that a total of 34 residential buildings and 77.7km of transportation network (mainly cart tracks) were impacted. In terms of area, the highest damage was registered in the Sclerophyllous vegetation (1406.7 ha), Broad-leaved forest (366.1 ha) and Natural grasslands (342.3 ha). These are as well the predominant LULC categories in the AOI.In AOI02-JERTE, the impact assessment shows that buildings were not impacted by the fire. On the other hand, the transportation network was affected with most of the features concerning cart tracks and no driveway paths/trails. Because the fire ravaged a hilly unpopulated area it affected mainly the natural assets. In terms of area, the highest damage was verified in sclerophyllous vegetated areas (7.3 ha destroyed and 10.5 ha high damage) and broad-leaved forests (2.5 ha destroyed and 4.7 ha high damage). The fire did not affect grasslands or olive groves, but some minor areas (0.1 ha) of fruit tree plantations were slightly impacted.

Yes. Selected APIs include a free API quota, so your team can validate coverage, freshness, response shape and workflow fit before asking for a production plan.
Often yes, but usage rights depend on the source license and dataset. We surface source, license and update metadata where available, and can help review terms before a production integration.
Maintained APIs include update metadata where available. For production integrations, we can add history, monitoring and push updates so changes are easier to detect and act on.
Production APIs can add SLA, stable identifiers, versioning support, history, push updates and direct support around the data your product or AI workflow depends on.
