Anonymised transcriptions of 12 participatory workshops in Spain, UK, Denmark, Germany, Hungary and Switzerland

As part of the UNTWIST project, a total of 12 participatory workshops were held in May 2025 in six partner countries (Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom), as part of work package 9. The workshops aimed to jointly develop with citizens evidence-based policy recommendations, addressing contemporary societal concerns. Their methodological design was based on the principles of citizen science and participatory social science research, prioritising the production of knowledge with citizens rather than for them. In total, the workshops brought together 101 participants with diverse profiles in terms of age, gender, socioeconomic background, and political orientation. The composition of the groups varied between countries in terms of gender balance, age range, occupation, and political orientation, including mixed, same-gender, and all-female groups, and reflecting a broad spectrum of ideological positions, from progressive to conservative. Detailed information on the composition of each group is provided in a table at the beginning of each document. All sessions followed a common four-part structure—introduction, problem identification, solution generation, and summary—adapted to national contexts.
