DISTENDER Climate Simulations: Dynamical Downscaling (Round-1) for Austria (Austria_D1 domain) at 9 km grid-spacing

Dynamical DownScaling (DDS) simulations in DISTENDER have been performed using the ICOsahedral Nonhydrostatic (ICON) model in limited-area mode (ICON-CLM), version 2.6.5, driven by EC-Earth3-Veg (EE3V) GCM. The dataset contains climate data, indicators, and impacts for Austria core case study at 9 km spatial resolution from the Round-2 DDS simulations.  The dataset covers the period 2011-2020 for the historical simulation, and 2041-2050 for the future scenarios simulations. DDS performed two rounds of climate simulations; the difference between those rounds is the land use dataset used in the downscaling approach. In Round-1, we employ the land-use from GLOBCover-2009 dataset,  while in Round-2 we used the localized land-use scenarios that were developed within DISTENDER WP3 activities. The dataset published here is from Round-1 simulations. Round-2 simulations for Austria have been published in (Essa and Ahrens, 2025). More details about the provided variable, levels, estimated climate indicators, and impacts are provided in the README files.
