Early-print-fragments-BOMPAC

This dataset was created by the Books of the Medieval Parish Church (BOMPAC) project (2021–2025). The project systematically produced and edited metadata on most medieval parchment fragments reused by the Swedish tax administration as covers for account booklets between c. 1540 and 1630. The dataset presented here focuses on fragments of incunabula and sixteenth-century printed books. It includes all relevant fragments preserved in the National Library of Finland, Helsinki, as well as most surviving fragments of the Missale Aboense (Turku missal, 1488) found in other collections. The dataset was designed especially to study the fragments' reuse as covers of account booklets, and its structure reflects this purpose.
