Influent & effluent concentrations of aerated hybrid wetland (Phytoparking): conventional parameters, pathogens &OMP

The Phytoparking system was developed by Belgian company Rietland and is based on the concept of an aerated wetland, using Forced Bed Aeration®. However, instead of the wetlands being planted with macrophytes, the aerated substrate layer is covered with turf grids so the area can be used for different purposes and thus the system does not require any surplus area. The Phytoparking systems have a first VSSF stage, followed by a HSSF stage. 13 water samples were taken over the course of 2 years and analyzed at University of Ghent or sent to Aarhus University in Denmark or the Norwegian Institute for Water Research in Oslo, Norway.
