International dataset on eco-innovation parks

This dataset presents information on 168 European and non-European eco-innovation parks, defined as eco-industrial park or eco-innovative areas combining residential and industrial activities. Each eco-innovation park is characterized according to 78 attributes with general information (e.g. type of park, size of park), a set of eco-criterion (e.g. waste management, material flow, renewable energy), a set of success factors (e.g. financial incentives, cooperation with science and technology institutions) and information sources (i.e peer-reviewed papers or reports and online materials). The environmental activities of the park are defined by 12 eco-criteria, 8 of which having sub-eco-criteria to precise the action undertaken (e.g. eco-criterion water management with sub-eco-criterion wastewater treatment). Similarly, a set of 8 predefined success factors is used as potential parameters for the identification of successful development and operation of eco-innovation parks. A full description of the attributes is provided on the worksheet “metadata”. The worksheet “data” contains the information on the 168 eco-innovation parks. For this desktop research, efforts were made to collect the data rigorously. Uncertainty may however remain regarding the reported information (no guarantee for complete and accurate information).
