Radio KPI & Throughput Measurement of Cellular and Satellite Networks for Evaluating Multi-Connectivity Solutions in Livestock Transport Monitoring in Rural Areas

Dataset Description This dataset, developed as part of the Horizon Europe COMMECT project, contains KPI measurements from 5G and satellite links collected by the Denmark Living Lab. The measurement campaign was conducted in the northern part of Denmark to evaluate the performance of a multi-connectivity solution aimed at ensuring seamless connectivity for monitoring livestock transport in rural areas. The dataset focuses on the integration of cellular and satellite links to address connectivity challenges in these regions. The measurements include data from two 5G NSA (Non-Standalone) cellular operators and a satellite link. Each row represents a recorded data point, capturing critical radio parameters and throughput performance. Included Parameters: Time: The timestamp indicating when the measurement was recorded. RSRP (dBm): Reference Signal Received Power, representing the signal strength. RSRQ (dB): Reference Signal Received Quality, reflecting the signal quality. SNR (dB): Signal-to-Noise Ratio. Throughput (Mbps): The measured data transmission rate. The dataset provides a foundation for analyzing multi-connectivity performance in rural use for livestock transport application and is used in  the following research papers: “Cellular-Satellite Multi-Connectivity with Link Activation Based on Random Forest Classifier” – This paper presents an evaluation of multi-connectivity solutions using machine learning-based link activation. “Connecting Rural Areas: An Empirical Assessment of 5G Terrestrial-LEO Satellite Multi-Connectivity” – This paper details the measurement campaign and its findings. The dataset is available as a ZIP file containing the processed measurement data and the two associated research papers.
