Aineisto sisältää Liikenneviraston tiesääjärjestelmän tuottamia tietoja tiestöllä vallitsevasta kelistä ja säästä. Teiden varsilla on lähes 500 keliä ja säätä havainnoivaa tiesääasemaa. Eniten asemia on rannikkoseudulla ja eteläisessä Suomessa. Tiesääasemilta saadaan tietoja 10-15 min välein erilaisilta tienpinta-antureilta tien pinnan oloista sekä meteorologisilta antureilta vallitsevasta säästä. Tiesääasemien sijainnista johtuen sääanturitietojen luotettavuus ja tiedon vertailtavuus asemien kesken on heikompi kuin Ilmatieteen laitoksen säähavaintoasemien tiedoilla, jotka on sijoitettu meteorologisesti edustavimpiin paikkoihin. Tiesääasemilla pääpaino on kelin mittaus ja asemat on siksi sijoitettu eri metodein kuin säähavaintoasemat.
