Agricultural land 2023

Agricultural area means the area of arable land (AL), permanent grassland (PG) and permanent crops (PC). Arable land is land cultivated for crop production or set-aside land available for cultivation. Permanent grassland Permanent grassland is an area used to grow grasses or other herbaceous forage on the same site for more than 5 years, either by self-regeneration or by sowing. Permanent grassland can take the form of arable land or natural pasture and meadow. A maximum of 50 trees per hectare may be grown in a fragmented manner on permanent grassland. Single- or multi-hull trees and woody shrubs of at least four metres in height are considered to be trees. Junipers of all sizes are also considered trees. Trees in wind protection plantations are not taken into account in the number of trees. Leaf shrubs and deciduous tree seedlings suitable for feeding farmed animals may be grown on the area if they cover less than half of the area of the eligible parcel. More than half (50%) of the area of the parcel must be grasses and herbaceous forage. The requirement also applies to parcels of permanent grassland with trees or deciduous bushes, or both. Permanent plants Permanent crops are non-rotational crops that are grown for at least 5 years and yield repeated harvests. These plants include fruit trees, berry bushes and ornamental plants.
