Network of berths

The network is based on data from the National Land Survey's terrain database for 2000-2008 (1:5 000-1:10 000). Based on the data, Syke has created a network of channels, the network-like structure of which has been produced by adding to the line-like rivers the central lines of regional rivers and the crossings of lakes with so-called pseudo channels. The dataset has been supplemented with channel codes. The network of channels covers all channels with a catchment area of at least more than 10 km2. In addition, the channel network also includes waterways with a water catchment area of less than 10 km2. The shoreline network as such does not describe a water body in accordance with the definition of water bodies in the new Water Act. The channel changes to another channel with a unique channel code at the intersection of the channels in the channel network and at the confluence of the channel and the lake. The channel network is constructed in such a way that all its components are topologically connected and have the right flow direction and can be used for various network analyses. The data describing the topology relationships between grooves are stored in separate tables. Other locating and physiographic data have also been calculated for Uomi. Uomaverkko is one of Syke's open datasets (CC BY 4.0). An INSPIRE data product has been published from the Uomaverkko dataset. The continuous network has been created in Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) by combining rivers to the central lines through polygon rivers and lakes. The dataset also includes unique river codes and lake codes. The river network includes all river segments with catchment areas larger than 10 km². Other, small rivers with small catchment areas are also included in case they are considered significant for water management tasks (e.g. WFD). The change from one river segment to another, with unique river code and information, is located at the junction of the river network. The river code also changes at a connection point of a river segment and a lake. The river network has been created such a way that all parts of the network are linked topologically to each other and have a correct flow direction so that the dataset can be used for analyzing the network. River network is dataset owned by Syke and has the same copyright and ownership conditions as other similar datasets owned by Syke.
