Pirkanmaa ecosystem services 2015

The Pirkanmaa ecosystem services project was completed in 2015. The project identified ecosystem services provided by the natural ecosystems of Pirkanmaa, their location and production potential. The spatial dataset describes the combined production potential and economic value of ecosystem services. The project also investigated the production potential of separate ecosystem service groups, such as regulatory and maintenance services. The ecosystem services defined in the report are based on the CICES (Common International Classification of Ecosystem Services, 2013) classification. The methods used to identify ecosystem services include crowding out information obtained from residents, extracting data from social media, and reviewing data based on spatial data. The results of the project were reported in the report and presented in spatial data format. The evidence is suitable for various purposes, such as business development as well as research and official work. The evidence also provides information on biodiversity areas of importance.
