Geoenergy Potential Map of the City of Turku Grid Chart

The study carried out in 2016 is mainly based on GTK’s existing geological spatial datasets and research reports. In addition to these, drilling data of the subscribers’ technical operation, data on drilled energy wells and the thickness of the drilling sections of the energy wells carried out in the area were also used to specify the area’s land cover thickness data. The work also included field surveys and examination of old drilling samples. The geoenergy potential map cannot be used as such to dimension the energy wells or well fields of properties, because the map is always a generalised presentation regardless of the accuracy. The map does not show groundwater areas, water abstraction shelters – with their areas, nature conservation – areas, underground structures and other territorial reserves that may restrict the use of geoenergy.
