Mittausosasto teettää lähes joka vuosi kartoitusilmakuvauksia eri puolilta kaupunkia. Näitä on tehty kartastojen ylläpitoa ja ympäristön tilan seurantaa varten. Näistä kuvauksista tehdään tarvittaessa ortoilmakuvia kaupungin sisäiseen paikkatietojärjestelmään. Ortokuvien maastoresoluutio on yleensä 10 cm, mutta ne eivät kata koko kaupungin aluetta. Koko Vantaan alueen kattavat ortokuvasarjat ovat vuosilta 1954, 1976, 1986, 1998, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2009, 2011 ja 2013. Kuvien resoluutio on 20-25 cm maastossa. Saatavissa WMS-palvelun kautta ( vuodet: 1954, 1976, 1986, 2011 ja 2013), vaatii sopimisen tiedon tuottajan kanssa.
