Dataset description

### Background: the Cartofriches Device The main need that Cartofriches wishes to meet is the** help in the identification of brownfield sites to qualify them and facilitate their reuse**. Indeed, despite the existence of national bases such as BASIAS and BASOL and high-quality local observatories, knowledge of brownfield sites at national level has so far remained partial and diffuse due to the diversity of cases and the rapid evolution of sites. The aim of Cartofriches, in the long term, is thus to support project owners and holders of rehabilitation projects by setting up a national inventory of available brownfield sites. **The data table produced as part of this project, which brings together national and local data, is available in opendata.** Access the Cartofriches data visualisation application: [https://cartofriches.cerema.fr/](https://cartofriches.cerema.fr/) ### Description of the Cartofriches data table The data table available in opendata makes it possible to reference potentially unused sites. The term ‘uncultivated areas’ is used here in the sense of artificialised and unoccupied areas. The data table contains information on **location of these sites** (geographical coordinates, parcel identifiers, … geolocated polygons), but also **context information** (type of owner, state of pollution, … urban planning law). The **field description** is available for download here (see below in the Resources section). ### The sources that made this table possible In order to establish a national brownfield inventory database, Cerema relied on several data sources. From **national data sources**, almost 3000 sites were identified throughout the national territory. Cerema continues this work of national census, which for the moment allows to have only a sample of all the existing brownfields. The national data used and information on the processing operations can be found here: [https://artificialisation.biodiversitetousvivants.fr/cartofriches/donnees-used ](https://artificialisation.biodiversitetousvivants.fr/cartofriches/donnees-used ) The **collection of local data**, as close as possible to the field, makes it possible to complete the work of Cerema at the national level, and will ultimately constitute a strong added value of the device. These local data are transmitted by actors of the territories, who own an observatory or carry out studies. Local contributors to Cartofriches are listed here: [https://artificialisation.biodiversitetousvivants.fr/cartofriches/observatories-localaux](https://artificialisation.biodiversitetousvivants.fr/cartofriches/observatories-localaux) ### Data quality and limitations At this stage, the data table is not homogeneous throughout the national territory. Indeed, the territories for which local data exist in Cartofriches actually have more sites. The purpose of the data table is to provide a list of potentially brownfield sites: it is not intended to be exhaustive. On the other hand, the data table fields have been harmonised to gather information from multiple sources. This has made it possible to create a single table, but it also implies that not all fields are necessarily filled in. ### Regular updates to be expected As the national inventory and local data integration work is ongoing, updates to this data table will be carried out approximately once per quarter. This will initially complete the base with new sites, then update the sites (add new brownfields, remove rehabilitated brownfields). ### Useful links Presentation articles by Cartofriches: - [What is cartofriches?](https://artificialisation.biodiversitetousvivants.fr/cartofriches/presentation) - [The challenges of brownfield revitalisation](https://artificialisation.biodiversitetousvivants.fr/cartofriches/issues-revitalisation-friches) - [Cartofriches - the data used](https://artificialisation.biodiversitetousvivants.fr/cartofriches/donnees-used) - [Local brownfield observatories](https://artificialisation.biodiversitetousvivants.fr/cartofriches/observatories-localaux)

Questions before production use

Practical answers on evaluation, licensing, freshness, versioning and support.

api.store is built and operated by Apitalks s.r.o. Company details and a direct contact path are linked in the footer for vendor checks and procurement review.
Yes. Selected APIs include a free API quota, so your team can validate coverage, freshness, response shape and workflow fit before asking for a production plan.
Often yes, but usage rights depend on the source license and dataset. We surface source, license and update metadata where available, and can help review terms before a production integration.
Maintained APIs include update metadata where available. For production integrations, we can add history, monitoring and push updates so changes are easier to detect and act on.
Production APIs can add SLA, stable identifiers, versioning support, history, push updates and direct support around the data your product or AI workflow depends on.
