Bank of the Subsoil (BSS) of the department of Gard

As part of its commitment to the National Plan for Open Science, the BRGM makes available on its InfoTerre portal the Banque du Sous-Sol (BSS) in free access. This action is part of the BRGM’s new open data and knowledge policy, which is evolving to take account of the regulatory context on access, dissemination and re-use of public data in France and Europe. In particular, the National Geological Survey is committed to the National Open Science Plan. The BSS lists the MSDSs of all the works of the BSS (more than 800,000 works described, associated with more than 2,000,000 pages of technical documents). The Subsoil Database (BSS) contains raw geological and technical information relating to underground works: location, object, geological description, technical equipment for drilling. The information made available to the public in the documents of the Banque du Sous-Sol (BSS), is communicated by third parties within the framework of the provisions laid down in the Mining Code (Articles 131 to 136). In addition, it should be noted that, given the large number of documents made accessible, there may be inappropriate documents (illegible, poorly positioned, not strictly technical, etc.). In this eventuality, the user will be willing to let us know the anomalies he will have encountered. The BSS team will treat these anomalies as a matter of priority.
