Dataset description

List of buildings protected under Historic Monuments in Seine-Maritime in April 2024. This status as a ‘historical monument’ is a recognition by the Nation of the heritage interest of a property. This protection implies a shared responsibility between the owners and the national community for its conservation and transmission to future generations. The opening and animation of historical monuments promote the appropriation by the general public of ‘national heritage’. The enhancement of heritage and its reuse contributes to local and social development and the tourism economy, to cultural identity and to the attractiveness and influence of the territories. Since 2009, the owner of a historic monument has been the contracting authority for the works carried out there. As such, it is responsible for defining the programmes for maintenance, restoration or modification operations, choosing a project manager (for buildings or organs) and [companies and restaurateurs](https://www.culture.gouv.fr/Thematiques/Monuments-Sites/Acteurs-metiers-formations/Les-partenaires/Les-entreprises) who will be responsible for the interventions, ensuring funding and seeking help from the State, local and regional authorities or other partners ([Mécènes et Fondations…](https://www.culture.gouv.fr/Thematiques/Monuments-Sites/Acteurs-metiers-formations/Les-partenaires/Les-mécènes-et-Fondations)). However, this full responsibility of the owner is accompanied by very precise rules for the authorisation and implementation of works which are also subject to the [scientific and technical control] (https://www.culture.gouv.fr/Thematiques/Monuments-Sites/Interventions-demarches/Le-controle-scientifique-et-technique-sur-les-monuments-historics) of the State by the departments responsible for historical monuments of the Ministry of Culture ([Regional Directorates for Cultural Affairs] (https://www.culture.gouv.fr/Thematiques/Monuments-Sites/Acteurs-metiers-formations/Les-services-services-et-agents-de-l-Etat/Les-services-des-monuments-historics-en-regions)). The Ministry of Culture is also directly responsible, through its decentralised services and public institutions, for the maintenance and conservation of major [historical monuments of the State] (https://www.culture.gouv.fr/Thematiques/Monuments-Sites/Monuments-Historical-Sites/Les-Monuments-Historical/Les-Monuments-de-l-Etat) such as the [Cathedrals] (https://www.culture.gouv.fr/Thematiques/Monuments-Sites/Monuments-Historical-Sites/Les-Monuments-Histories/Les-Cathedrals) and the national domains for which it is responsible. Often yes, but usage rights depend on the source license and dataset. We surface source, license and update metadata where available, and can help review terms before a production integration.
Maintained APIs include update metadata where available. For production integrations, we can add history, monitoring and push updates so changes are easier to detect and act on.
Production APIs can add SLA, stable identifiers, versioning support, history, push updates and direct support around the data your product or AI workflow depends on.
