Coefficients of gradients of dynamic profiles

Enedis has been publishing the gradient coefficients of the dynamic consumption profiles used in the capacity mechanism since January 2020. This information makes it possible to take into account the effects of temperature on customers’ electricity consumption. They are thus essential for estimating (extrapolating) the consumption during very cold periods of each supplier and thus setting the amount of ‘capacity’ (production/erasure) that each of them must hold to cover the ‘leading edge’ consumption of its customers, in order to secure the supply of the French electricity system. The (winter) sensitivity of electricity consumption to temperatures is high, amounting to almost 2 000 MW / °C during certain hours of the day at the Enedis perimeter. The coefficients of dynamic gradients are used in the rules of the capacity mechanism to extrapolate the consumption of dynamically profiled customers in very cold periods.
