Dataset description

This dataset is the result of a study work involving INSEE and the Department of Data and Statistical Studies (SDES) of the Ministry of Ecological Transition. In order to determine the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from commuting, this work is based on the complementary use of the population census, and in particular the bases ‘Professional mobility of individuals: common movements of residence / common work", available on Insee.fr. This source indicates the places of residence and work of employed persons, their socio-demographic characteristics, as well as the main mode of transport they use. The results of the census are enriched by several other data sources to impute the other parameters that determine GHG emissions: * the distance worker Metric-OSRM produced by INSEE provides the distance between home and work; * the 2019 Mobility of Persons Survey (EMP) provides the frequency of travel, distances travelled taking into account detours and shortcuts, the filling rate of cars, as well as the unit GHG emissions of public transport, i.e. emitted during a one-kilometre journey; * Ademe’s footprint base provides the unit emissions of powered two-wheelers; * the statistical register of road vehicles (RSVERO), in addition to the EMP, makes it possible to impute the unit emissions of cars; * data from transport.data.gouv.fr and SNCF, used in addition to the EMP to determine accessibility to metro or tramway stations and stations, provide the probability of using rail or road public transport; * The Continuing Employment Survey (EEC) makes it possible to update the results of the EMP on teleworking. These additional sources allow the following variables to be added to the data on occupational mobility: * Average distance from home to work (km) * Duration of journey from home to work - without congestion - (in minutes) * Average distance travelled per person per week, taking into account frequency, detours and shortcuts (in km) * Average CO2 emissions per person per week for commuting (CO2e in g) These new variables are derived from imputations and do not identify individuals. Like the census files from which it is derived, the database thus complies with the reference framework set by the decree of 19 July 2007 on the dissemination of the results of the population census. In particular, in order to ensure the confidentiality of individual data, bilocalised data are accompanied by only a very limited number of socio-demographic variables. GHG emissions are calculated only for commuting journeys of less than 100 km in mainland France, corresponding to the scope of the local mobility component of the MPE used for imputations. In addition, only emissions generated during travel, i.e. ‘from tank to wheel’, are counted. ‘Upstream’ emissions from energy production, vehicle construction or transport infrastructure are therefore not included. All GHGs are included, emissions are expressed in CO2 equivalent. In these data, observations are uniquely identified by place of residence, place of work and socio-demographic characteristics from the population census. Each line is weighted by the number of employed persons, always according to the census (IPONDI variable). The data are updated every year, except for 2020, an exceptional year for the mobility of people due to the health crisis. The full description of the dataset can be found in the working document to be downloaded below. Field: CO2 emissions are calculated for employed persons aged 15 or over who travel to work and whose commuting distances are less than 10 km for pedestrians, 30 km for bicycles and 100 km for other modes of transport in metropolitan France. Nevertheless, the data contain all employed persons aged 15 or over. The scope is therefore extended to the following individuals, for whom the distances travelled per week and the average CO2 emissions per week are not provided: * All employed persons in the French overseas departments. * Active workers in metropolitan France who do not move. * Active workers in metropolitan France whose distance is more than 100 km. * Active workers in metropolitan France who move but for whom it is not possible to calculate a distance: municipalities too far away for pedestrians or bicycles, journeys impossible for other modes of transport. Questions before production use

Practical answers on evaluation, licensing, freshness, versioning and support.

api.store is built and operated by Apitalks s.r.o. Company details and a direct contact path are linked in the footer for vendor checks and procurement review.
Yes. Selected APIs include a free API quota, so your team can validate coverage, freshness, response shape and workflow fit before asking for a production plan.
Often yes, but usage rights depend on the source license and dataset. We surface source, license and update metadata where available, and can help review terms before a production integration.
Maintained APIs include update metadata where available. For production integrations, we can add history, monitoring and push updates so changes are easier to detect and act on.
Production APIs can add SLA, stable identifiers, versioning support, history, push updates and direct support around the data your product or AI workflow depends on.
