Dataset description

The [Archives nationales (France)] (https://www.archives-nationales.culture.gouv.fr/) make available to the public millions of digital reproductions of archival documents (texts, photographs, maps and plans, drawings and prints, etc.). These documents can be consulted and downloaded from the institution's document portal ([virtual reading room](https://www.siv.archives-nationales.culture.gouv.fr/)). This dataset "Customs of digitised documents of the National Archives" lists the digitised archival documents accessible on the portal of the National Archives. It consists of the following fields: * **title**: title of the digitized corpus ***url\_SLV**: URL of the inventory and images on the National Archives' documentary portal (sometimes multi-valued, with | separator) * **Original \_ support**: medium from which the digitisation was carried out (original document - colour - or microform - black and white or grey level) * **number \_vues**: number of images (approximately, from digitization mapping tables or even file naming) * ** \_ gradesconcerned**: reference of digitized documents to the National Archives (archive listings, root listings or groups of listings) * **status \_archives**: status of archives (public, private or mixed). Public archival documents are freely reproducible and reusable (except intellectual property rights held by third parties, in particular for recent photographs or posters). Private archives may be subject to authorisation for reproduction and re-use (see case-by-case inventory - \_SLV field) * ** \_document type**: document type index (multivaluated, | separator) ***theme**: Thematic Index (multivaluated, | separator) * **place**: geographical index * **period**: index by chronological period (century and special events; Multivalue, | separator) * **person**: index of the persons concerned (individual or family; Multivalue, | separator) * **\_xml file**: archive inventory download link in XML format ***comments**: comments, if any. Contains in particular the naming root(s) of image files (present in XML files) Updates will be made twice a year with the addition of new digital archives accessible online. Yes. Selected APIs include a free API quota, so your team can validate coverage, freshness, response shape and workflow fit before asking for a production plan.
Often yes, but usage rights depend on the source license and dataset. We surface source, license and update metadata where available, and can help review terms before a production integration.
Maintained APIs include update metadata where available. For production integrations, we can add history, monitoring and push updates so changes are easier to detect and act on.
Production APIs can add SLA, stable identifiers, versioning support, history, push updates and direct support around the data your product or AI workflow depends on.
