Dataset description

The catalogue of biological collections of the Centres de Ressources Biologique (CRB) is part of the work undertaken by the Ministry of Health to structure, pool and develop [biological resources] (https://sante.gouv.fr/system-de-sante/innovation-et-recherche/l-innovation-et-la-recherche-clinique/article/l-organisation-de-la-recherche-clinique) kept in health institutions. This project is the result of the reflections carried out in the framework of the CRB working group, in close consultation with the representatives of the hospital CRBs, and the [Research and Innovation Steering Committee](https://sante.gouv.fr/IMG/pdf/composition_du_copil_ri_de_la_dgos.pdf), bringing together representatives of hospital and university health federations and conferences. It aims to enhance the visibility, interoperability and effective mobilisation of biological collections for research purposes, public policy and scientific excellence. It also responds to national priorities underpinned by the **Plan France 2030** ([biobank axis](https://www.frbionet.fr/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2025-01-23-cp-lancement-project-frbionet-france-2030.pdf)) and the **4ᵉ Plan National Maladies Rares (**[axis 4 PNMR4](https://sante.gouv.fr/IMG/pdf/pnmr4.pdf)**)**, which underline the strategic importance of biological resources for medical and scientific progress.  The catalogue aims to: · **exhaustive documentation** of biological collections of human origin managed by the BRCs of health institutions; · **Enhance a single national reference system**, facilitating their knowledge, interconnection and mobilisation by academic and industrial stakeholders; · **Improve their scientific visibility**, in support of public policies supporting biomedical research and life sciences. · **Establish a structured national repository**, which can serve as a basis for a broader extension, within the framework of **France 2030**, to all biocollections of all origins (human, animal, plant, fungal, environmental …), including those preserved: o in the **Joint Research Units (JRUs)**; o in **public scientific and technological establishments (EPST)** such as the **CNRS**, the**INSERM**, the**INRAE**, the**IRD**; o in **non-profit private research institutes or recognised foundations** such as the**Institut Pasteur**, the**Institut Curie**, or the**Imagine Foundation**; o as well as in national research infrastructures**; **Use of data** For collections from hospital CRBs, data are collected via the [PIRAMIG] tool (https://www.piramig.fr/), used by healthcare institutions to describe and structure their resources. The catalogue is updated **annually** and published on **data.gouv.fr** as well as on the website of the **Ministry of Health**. Some information may not be made public at the request of the contributing CRBs. **Contact** For any questions or additional information: **Office RI1, Research and Innovation Unit, DGOS**: <dgos-ri1@sante.gouv.fr>

Questions before production use

Practical answers on evaluation, licensing, freshness, versioning and support.

Yes. Selected APIs include a free API quota, so your team can validate coverage, freshness, response shape and workflow fit before asking for a production plan.
Often yes, but usage rights depend on the source license and dataset. We surface source, license and update metadata where available, and can help review terms before a production integration.
Maintained APIs include update metadata where available. For production integrations, we can add history, monitoring and push updates so changes are easier to detect and act on.
Production APIs can add SLA, stable identifiers, versioning support, history, push updates and direct support around the data your product or AI workflow depends on.
