**Description** This dataset lists the **firefighters who have died and been commemorated since 2000** in France, all components combined (professional firefighters, volunteers, military). It aims to contribute to **collective memory**, **public transparency** and **global statistical analyses**. The scope covers: * the metropolis, * overseas and local authorities, * specific training courses (BSPP, BMPM, UIISC, BASC, GHSC). **Sources** The data result from the crossing of **public and accessible sources**: * Official commemorative plaques and supports, * Resurrexit site – death in service ordered: <https://www.resurrexit.fr> **Methodology** * Assisted manual extraction (no automatic generation), * Standardization of grades, SDIS and specific units (Paris, Marseille, overseas), **Content of the file** The CSV file contains the following fields: * Year _ Tribute : reference year of the tribute rendered * "name": last name * "first name": first name * ”grade”: grade as indicated in the source * ’grade _normalise’: harmonised grade * "status": Volunteer, Professional or Military * "unit _sdis _ou _corps": BSPP, BMPM, UIISC, BASC, GHSC, CIS. * "sdis": service or unit of belonging * "department": department or community deduced from the SDIS * ‘gender’: deducted from the first name when not specified * `age _deces`: age at death (if known) * “date _official _deces“: exact date of death (if available) **Limits** * Some old data is incomplete * Gender is sometimes inferred and may have a margin of uncertainty * The year of tribute is not the year of death **Recommended Uses** This dataset is intended to: * global statistical analyses, * memory work, * OpenData publications.
