Renewable and low-carbon gas production projects by pyrogaseification for injection into gas networks

This dataset provides in Open Data the location of more than forty commercial projects and demonstrators of biogas production via pyrogasification. This process converts poorly or poorly recovered solid residues (waste wood, non-recycled plastics, … recovery solid fuels) into gas by heating them at high temperatures (between 800 and 1500°), with little (or no) oxygen. By 2030, the forecast balance of network operators based on the ambitions included in the regional plans (SRADDET and specific studies) shows that pyrogasification could represent 6 TWh of injected gas per year corresponding to up to 1 million tonnes of CO2 avoided. This forward-looking technology will thus contribute to achieving 100% renewable or low-carbon gas consumption in France by 2050. Information on industrial demonstrator status: they are demonstrators currently in operation, on a semi-industrial or industrial scale. Not all have the complete process chain for injectable-grade methane production, but the pyrogasification brick is suitable for the injection chain. Information on the status of commercial projects: * Draft preliminary study: Has a project (need for waste to be treated or production of gas to be produced, project leader with first site elements, …). * Project under development: Feasibility study of the project carried out with a first established Business Plan.
