Das Landesamt für Natur, Umwelt und Klima Nordrhein-Westfalen (LANUK) hat im November 2018 das Solarkataster NRW veröffentlicht. In diesem Rahmen wurde jedes Dach in NRW hinsichtlich seiner Eignung für Photovoltaik und Solarthermie in hoher Detailschärfe untersucht. Das Solarkataster NRW wurde auf der Grundlage von landesweit verfügbaren, hochaufgelösten Laserscandaten des Landes NRW und Strahlungsdaten des Deutschen Wetterdienstes erstellt. Weitere Informationen zum Projekt sind im Solarkataster unter https://www.solarkataster.nrw.de zusammengestellt sowie in beigefügter Broschüre zusammengefasst. Dieser Datensatz enthält alle für Photovoltaik geeigneten Dachflächen in NRW. Es sind Attribute wie beispielsweise die geeignete Flächengröße, die nutzbare Modulfläche, die installierbare Leistung sowie der potenzielle Stromertrag zu jeder Dachfläche dargestellt. Die Attribute werden in der dem Datensatz beigefügten beigefügten Excel-Tabelle erklärt. Mit neuen Grundlagendaten wird der Datensatz laufend aktualisiert.
