Topographic maps are landscape-descriptive maps that depict the earth's surface in its various forms - settlements, traffic routes, borders, waters, terrain forms and vegetation - in a vivid, as complete and clear way as possible depending on the map scale. Signatures and map fonts help to explain the topographical objects. The topographic map at a scale of 1:25,000 is produced using the "Digitally Guided Topographic Map (ATKIS-DTK)" method on the basis of the Digital Basic Landscape Model (basic DLM). It complies with the requirements applicable throughout Germany for the map content, the geodetic basis, the character key and the layout.
