Meteorological observations data for WFS

The LVĢMC carries out meteorological observations in 33 observation stations (~1 station per 1500 km2), which are stationary throughout the territory of Latvia. The location of the stations is optimal to describe the weather and climate in Latvia in sufficient detail. Placement density is regulated by international norms. Automatic equipment installed in 23 observation stations and appropriate software for the processing and transmission of measurements and observations to the database. At these observation stations, the observation programme is developed according to the tasks and technical capabilities of the observation station: 7 stations are in continuous operation with manual observations, 3 stations are in 2-deadline operation with manual observations and 13 stations are in continuous operation with automatic observations only. In 10 observation stations, only observations of the most variable meteorological elements of the room are made - atmospheric precipitation, snow cover, certain atmospheric phenomena.
