Protected species distribution (data)

The requirements of species protection are defined by Species and Habitat Protection Law of March 16, 2000, which is based on Directive 92/43/EEC on protection of natural habitats and wildlife, and on Directive 2009/147/EC on protection of wild birds. corresponding to the law, lists of protected species are made, summarising endangered, vulnerable and rare species that inhabit specific habitats (http://likumi.lv/doc.php?id=12821). The list includes both traditionally protected species in Latvia and those protected by the EU Bird or Habitat Directive.
