Distribution of land in land use types

The data set contains official statistics on the division of land units registered in the Information System of the State Cadastre of Immovable Property into types of land use. * __ATVK__ - Code for the classification of administrative territories and territorial units. * __Administrative territory__ – unit of territorial division of Latvia in which a local government, within the scope of its competence, carries out administration. * __Total area __ – total area of land units. * __Land use __ – classification of land use in accordance with Cabinet Regulation No 562 of 21 August 2007 on the procedure for classifying land use types and the criteria for determining them. * __Agricultural land __: * Arable land – land regularly cultivated or formerly cultivated, which, according to its natural characteristics, is to be used for crops of agricultural crops, as well as land for nurseries of forest planting material, fruit trees and berry bushes; * Arable land – land regularly cultivated or formerly cultivated, which, according to its natural characteristics, is to be used for crops of agricultural crops, as well as land for nurseries of forest planting material, fruit trees and berry bushes; * Orchard – land on which fruit trees, berry bushes and perennial berry bushes intended for fruit production grow; * Meadow – land which, due to its natural properties, can be used for mowing grass and for long-term (for several years) cultivation of cultivated (sown) or naturally formed (self-seeded) herbaceous crops; * Grassland – land used for long-term grazing and for the cultivation of herbaceous forage from cultivated (sown) or naturally (self-seeded) crops; * Forest – land dominated by trees at all stages of development, which can reach a height of at least seven metres at a given location and whose current or potential canopy cover is at least 20 per cent of the area covered by the forest stand; * Shrubland – land dominated by woody plants (scoops, bushes, honeysuckles, irbenes, saddles, currants, hazelnuts, parrots, rowan trees, ivory), which form several trunks up to six metres high; * Swamp – land with wet, poorly aerated peat soils, in which the height of trees in a particular place cannot reach more than seven meters and the ground cover is dominated by species of different sedge and sphagnum families. * __Land of water objects __: * Land under water – land occupied by rivers (including streams), lakes, ponds, drains (ditches) and other water bodies, as well as coastal waters; * Land under fish ponds – land occupied by artificially arranged bodies of water for fish farming; * __Land under buildings and courtyards __ – land occupied by buildings, structures and yards, as well as land necessary for the maintenance of buildings and structures. * __Land under roads __ – land occupied by streets, roads and railway or rail tracks, as well as their lanes. * __Other land __ – land occupied by sand, cemeteries, parks, lions, tracks, ravines, cliffs, slopes, if they are not considered forest or scrubland, seed plantations and floodplains, as well as land used for the extraction of mineral resources.
