Barrel network in Lithuania

The collection contains data of the State Forest Service (VMT) on the network of barrels in Lithuania from 1998 to the present day. A barrel is a forest accounting unit covering an area of approximately 16 km2 or 400 ha. When carrying out forest inventory, the barrel shall establish the most important performance indicators of the stands. These data allow to assess the state of Lithuanian forests and their change indicators at the level of the country, administrative units or their compounds (counties, districts). 16 349 permanent observation barrels are singled out in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania, which are updated every five years. The SRS performs observations in a fifth of barrels each year. The data of the set shall cover all forest land of Lithuania regardless of the form of ownership. The object of the kit is one barrel. The table shows the date of measurement, the five-year cycle, the status and the coordinates of the “noisy” barrel centres for confidentiality purposes.
