Material flow accounts

Material flow accounts (by type of raw materials and materials). The purpose of the country's farm material flow accounts (SALW) is to draw up comparable indicators with other Member States of the European Union (EU). The SALW directly contributes to EU policy priorities related to the Green Growth Strategy and Resource Efficiency Initiative and provides information on material flows in line with the UN National Accounts System (NSS) and its European version (ESS). THE SHAMSS is suitable for analysing and modelling the interaction between the integrated environment and the economy. The internal consumption of substances (MVV) represents the total consumption of substances by resident units. “Inland material extraction (VMG)” means the annual amount of solid, liquid and gaseous materials (excluding water) received by resident units from the natural environment and intended for economic use. Export of goods and services (PPE) means transactions (sale, exchange, gift) of goods and services where residents transfer economic property rights to non-residents. “Import of goods and services (PPIs)” means transactions (sale, exchange, gift) of goods and services where non-residents transfer economic property rights to residents. Direct cost of materials (TMS) means all materials consumed in production and services, including materials consumed in imported products. The classifications used are: Classification of SAL-MSS Material Types in Annex III to Regulation No 691/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 July 2011 on European Environment Economic Accounts.
