Provision of humanitarian aid to third countries

The Health Emergency Situations Centre of the Ministry of Health shall initiate humanitarian and civilian assistance to medical equipment, personal protective equipment, medicines and vaccines in response to requests for assistance from countries facing unforeseen threats and crises and unable to cope with their own consequences. Data on humanitarian or civilian assistance provided shall be opened twice a year. Cooperation, exchange of experience and resources between countries and institutions contributes to a faster and more effective response to emergencies. The data being opened provides an opportunity to assess the use of public resources, the allocation of funds and to ensure that support is provided in an impartial and transparent manner. The knowledge gained during the provision of assistance contributes to the improvement of the humanitarian and civilian assistance mechanism in Lithuania.
