Restrictions on forestry activities in Natura 2000 areas

The State Service for Protected Territories under the MoA provides spatial data on Natura 2000 forest areas with pre-identified restrictions on forestry activities under the Operational Area "Support in Natura 2000 forests" of the measure "Natura 2000 and Water Framework Directive related payments" of the Lithuanian Rural Development Programme 2014-2020: 1. SC - Prohibited main logging (main logging postponed to a later date) or allowed low-intensity selective logging (allowing no more than 10% of the stand volume to be cut in 10 years) in a stand that has reached the harvesting age for group IV forests; 2. UK - prohibition of developmental logging, felling of mature trees, prohibition or restriction of sanitary logging, allowing a certain number of drying or dead trees per ha; 3. NM - additional number of uncut green trees to be left in gappy main forest clearings; 4. DM - all drying or dead trees must not be removed in stands that have reached the thinning age (21 years) or older. The restrictions are applicable in 2026.
