Friends of Saint Pirmin - by Pörmesfrönn asbl_convention

The association "Les Amis de Saint Pirmin - d'Pörmesfrönn asbl" is a non-profit association formed on 11 March 1973, with its registered office at Am Enneschtduerf 23 in L-9662 Kaundorf. The association is registered in the Trade and Companies Register under registration number F6601 and in the Joint Social Security Centre under registration number 19746100380. The place called "Pirmesknupp", located between Büderscheid and Kaundorf, gathers on a surface of 4 ha, a baroque chapel with the remains of a hermitage, and two "sacred" sources as well as the ruins of a farm that once constituted an important religious complex and whose roots go back to the time of Saint Pirmin resp. in the 12th century, when the farm was first mentioned in a document of the abbey of Münster. Since its creation in 1973, the association has been committed to preserving and enhancing this heritage site steeped in history. As a place of pilgrimage, the site "Pirmesknupp" has been classified as a national monument since 2018. In addition to preserving and celebrating local traditions, the association's missions include participating in public events in honour of St. Pirmin in Kaundorf, safeguarding and maintaining the Octagonal Chapel of St. Pirmin with its two sources dating back to the 8th century, as well as the maintenance and enhancement of the historical site known as "Pirmesknupp". Through its activities, the association intends not only to highlight the religious and cultural importance of the historical site of the "Pirmesknupp", but also to contribute to the tourist enhancement of the northern region of the country. In this context and in collaboration with local and national stakeholders, the association annually carries out excavation work at the St. Pirmin farm and maintenance work on the site and the Chapel and annually organizes cultural and religious activities around the heritage of the St. Pirmin.
