Population by municipality and code LAU2 since 2000

Population figures per municipality on 1 January of each year calculated by STATEC. The delimitation of municipalities is that observed on 1 January 2017. Until 2016, the population figures are estimated by STATEC and are obtained as follows: Population on 1 January of year x = population on 1 January of year x-1 + births — deaths + immigration — emigrations. From 2017, STATEC uses the National Register of Physical Persons to enumerate the population. Following this change in methodology (estimated towards the use of administrative data), a series break is observed in the evolution of population figures per municipality of residence. The temporal analysis of population figures must therefore be carried out with great care and must take into account this change in methodology. Births and deaths are obtained through the municipalities, while migration figures are taken from the RNPP (National Register of Physical Persons).
