Contacts with the general practitioner of general practitioners participating in Nivel Zorgregistrs Eerste Lijn (from 01-01-2018)

This file contains data on the number of contacts declared (& Operations ') with the GP of persons registered with general practitioners participating in Nivel Zorgregistrs Eerste Lijn (NZR). A distinction is made between consultations at practice, visits to the client’s home and telephone or e-mail consultations. These files can only be used within the CBS after the permission of Nivel, the use is associated with costs. External researchers can submit a data request via the Nivel website. After approval, Nivel will in most cases (for a fee) create a specific custom file that is focused on the research question. More information on how to access the data: > https://www.cbs.nl/nl-nl/onze-diensten/maatwerk-en-microdata/microdata-zelf-onderzoek-doen ### Methodology The data from this file is used in combination with the data from the NZRClient file, which contains the data on all enrolled patients with the NZR general practitioners. This file contains the declared contacts that persons in NZRClient have had during the reporting year with the GP and/or (GGZ) practice supporter of the general practitioner where they were registered during the reporting year. In the file, the type of contact is described in detail by means of a so-called CTG code or performance code. NZRClient has also included a higher weight, with which the results of the operations can be increased to the entire Dutch population. If a client was registered in a practice with assessable contacts, but there are no contacts of the client in this file, the client did not have contacts with the general practitioner during the reporting year. As of fiscal year 2018, Nivel no longer supplied raw source files to CBS, but reprocessed files that Nivel used for its own analyses. These reworked files contain largely the same variables as the raw files, but some registration errors have already been removed from them, such as duplicate records based on the Nivel patient number. The Operations File has also been dedoubled by Nivel, so that each operation code only occurs once per patient per day in the file. In addition, a number of CTG codes, which are not used by Nivel for their analyses, are no longer included in the file. In previous years, at the request of CBS, the transactions of zero-year-olds that had taken place before the registration date (and thus immediately after birth) had been added to the stock of transactions, but from reporting year 2018 onwards, only operations that took place during the registration period with the GP will be recorded in the file. As a result, the number of transactions for zero-year-olds is lower from reporting year 2018. The 2018 client base includes relatively fewer clients than the files of previous years (approximately 10 % less), because the NZR practices connected to one particular General Practitioner Information System (HIS) had not yet provided data at the time of Nivel’s production of the analysis files.
