Highest attained and highest level of education and training of the population in the Netherlands (from 01-10-2019)

The HOOGSTEOPLJJJJTABVV file represents the highest attained and highest level of education of the Dutch population on 1 October of year JJJJ. The file is based on data from various registers and the Labour Force Survey (EBB). Due to the use of multiple (years of) sources, HOOGSTEOPLJJJTABVV has a very high coverage rate (2018: more than 11.5 million people). Although the coverage rate is high, the file does not represent the entire target population. The information is integral for part of the population and for the other persons on a sample basis (EBB). The file therefore contains a high weight (GEWICHTHOOGSTEOPL). A more detailed description of the methodology can be found in the annex (P.OPLNIVSSB C main process.pdf). The registers underlying HOOGSTEOPLJJJJTABVV do not perceive all forms of education. Education abroad, education at private institutions and long-term business training and courses are underestimated. More than 2 percent of the population actually have a higher level of education than observed through the sources of HOOGSTEOPLJJJTABVV. Therefore, it is estimated using the EBB: in almost 4 percent of the records, a higher level of education is imputated. As a result, HOOGSTEOPLJJJTABVV contains several variables for both the highest attainment and the highest level of education followed: 1) obtained a training number of the level (OPLNRHB) and highly followed (OPLNRHG) level of education. This is a very detailed typing of training. These variables can be converted into level and directional layouts via SSB-refbooks. These variables underestimate the level of education somewhat because of the education not observed in registers. 2) level of education according to the CBS publication classification in 18 categories that provides less detail but in which has been corrected (through imputation) for the above-mentioned underestimation. Until HOOGSTEOPL2019TABV1, the variables OPLNIVSOI2016AGG4HBmetNIRWO and OPLNIVSOI2016AGG4HGmetNIRWO are based on the SOI2016. As of HOOGSTEOPL2019TABV2, the variables OPLNIVSOI2021AGG4HBmetNIRWO and OPLNIVSOI2021AGG4HGmetNIRWO are based on SOI2021. 3) training course that offers less detail but in which has been corrected (through imputation) for the above underestimation. Up to and including HOOGSTEOPL2019TABV1, the variables RIGHT DEtailISCEDF2013HBmetNIRWO and RICHT DetailISCEDF2013HGmetNIRWO are based on the SOI2016. From HOOGSTEOPL2019TABV2 it concerns the variables RICHTSOI2021SCEDF2013HBNIRWO and RICHTSOI2021ISCEDF2013HGNIRWO based on SOI2021. The user is advised to use the training number only if there are serious reasons for this. To obtain from OPLNIVSOIJJJJJAGG4HBmetNIRWO/OPLNIVSOIJJJJAGG4HGmetNIRWO the CBS publication format into 8 categories must be used from the first 3 digits. SSB reference books are available to determine the level and direction of education (OPLNRHB and OPLNRHG) (CBS Publication Classifications, Standard Education Layout (SOI) or International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED)). Note If you wish to obtain classifications from OPLNRHB or OPLNRHG within the framework of the SOI2016/SOI2021, it is of great importance for the transmission of OPLEIDINGSNRREFVV to CTOREFVV not to use CTO but CTO2016V (CodeType Training ClassificationSOI2016)/CTO2021V. The HOOGSTEOPLJJJJTABVV file has been revised with effect from the 2013 reporting year. The previous form is available for the period 1999-2014. The remanufactured form is available from 2013. These are the following registrations: — CRIHO (Central Register of Enrollments in Higher Education, from 1983 (Wed)/1986 (HBO)); — Continuing education numbers (from school year 2003/'04, secondary vocational education (from school year 2004/#039;05), adult learning including continuing general adult education (from school year 2005/#039;06). — Primary Education Numbers (WPO) and Special Education (WEC) (from school year 2008/& #039;09). — Files containing training histories as reported by jobseekers at the UWV WERKbedrijf (persons registered in 2010 or later). Due to selectivity, the records in HOOGSTEOPLJJJJTABVV are provided with a high weight, so that the results from the stock are representative of the entire Dutch population and select subpopulations (for further information see section WEICHTHOOGSTEOPL in the Variables tab). Records from registrations and the fully imputated population 0 to 14 count for themselves and get elevated weight 1. A detailed description of the methodology can be found in the annexes. ### Population The target population consists of all persons who were registered in the Municipal Basic Administration on October 1 of the year JJJJ.
