The Open Street: test of different traffic arrangements (STUDY)

In recent years, the paradigm of integrated transport planning and people-centred city planning has been emerging, putting sustainable modes of movement at the forefront rather than cars. Municipalities and the state are introducing infrastructure that restricts motorised modes of transport and gives space to pedestrians and cyclists. This also interferes with people's everyday habits, which can lead to conflicts between groups of users of space. Major infrastructural measures are therefore preceded by temporary measures that allow people to test the planned live arrangements and allow planners to improve the plans on the basis of experience. One such measure is the Open Street, a measure to test traffic arrangements to promote short-distance walking and cycling and change travel habits. As part of the Life IP Care4climate project, it was carried out three times in Škofja Loka, Postojna and Velenje.
