Cultural disadvantage and schooling of young people

The study covered the entire generation of young people who completed primary school in the municipality of Velenje in 1977. The researchers chose this generation because it was the oldest generation for which the employment community had collected documentation and because, after seven years, this generation had made sufficient progress in education and the profession to be able to obtain information on education and employment and career progression. The research is carried out within the framework of the wider project "Velenje 2000". The purpose of the research is to guide development according to people's needs and aspirations. The questions relate to an individual's education after primary school, self-actualization during schooling and later in the profession, the adequacy of employment with regard to education and income, job satisfaction, housing issues, as well as questions about values, spending free time, cultural equipment at home, opinions on attitudes and problems that individuals feel in their personal life, in their immediate or wider environment.
