Role of the National Parliament in the EU – the case of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, 2006

The research on the positions of deputies on the functioning of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia provides insight into the positions of deputies regarding certain fundamental elements of parliamentarism in modern liberal democracies. In this way, the perception of the representation of interests, which is one of the fundamental components of the parliamentary mandate, is observed in more detail, as well as the entire structure of the functioning of the parliament with the functioning of the working bodies at the head. The aim of the research is to discover how deputies assess the manner of functioning of the National Assembly in a given term of office, in particular how deputies see its role in the conditions of Slovenia's membership of the EU, what their perceptions and expectations are, especially in view of the complexity of the functioning of the national parliament in the new conditions, as well as the actual possibilities of influencing the receipt of decisions and the formulation of policies at the EU level.
