Dataset description
The Web Map Service called the National Inventory of Soil Erosion (2002-2019) Laminar Erosion and in waterways, allows the visualization and consultation of the evolution of erosive phenomena, with the ultimate aim of delimiting as accurately as possible the priority areas of action in the fight against erosion, as well as defining and assessing the actions to be carried out, within the plans and programs whose elaboration is also attributed by Royal Decree 500/2020, of April 28, which develops the basic organizational structure of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, and modifies Royal Decree 139/2020, of January 28, which establishes the basic organizational structure of the ministerial departments.
From a quantitative and qualitative point of view, surface water erosion of the laminar type or in gullies is the one that is most interested in its influence on the degradation of natural systems, the loss of productivity of the land and the alteration of hydrological processes, especially when considering the anthropically accelerated erosion, caused mainly by the breakage of sloping land and the indiscriminate application of inadequate agricultural practices, which is the one that causes the great losses of soil. The main objective of the work was to obtain a cartography of current quantitative levels of soil losses due to surface water erosion of laminar type or in gullies, through the application of the RUSLE model (Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation), because it allows to determine the losses that are caused in the soil in an objective way from the calculation of the different factors involved. In laminar erosion and in gullies, the territory is classified according to qualitative levels of soil loss.
