Historical Orthophoto of Asturias (1970)

Continuous historical image of the territorial scope of the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias, obtained by orthorectification of the aerial images of the one named as Flight of the Diputación. The flight of the Diputación, also known as Flight of 1970, because this is the date around which the flight was made, consists of 2,402 aerial images with an E=1/20,000 approx. (photograms also available for download in the SITPA-IDEAS) that have allowed to generate a high quality orthophoto (50 cm the pixel). NOTE: The historical orthophoto has been generated by orthorectification of the original frames using the current MDT05 of the National Geographic Institute. Local adjustments have been made to this model in certain areas in order to improve its alignment with the relief existing on the original acquisition date; however, these amendments do not cover the entire Asturian territory. Considering that the earth’s surface may have experienced substantial variations in the past period – due to infrastructure works, earth movements, erosive processes or other anthropic or natural causes – the absolute planimetric accuracy of orthophotographs in areas affected by this type of alterations is not guaranteed. Consequently, it is recommended to use it with caution in applications or analyses that require high positional accuracy.
