This table provides monthly, quarterly and annual data, since 2012, on the number of companies registered with Social Security according to tourism activities, employee intervals and legal status. Monthly data are available from May 2020, as data were previously received quarterly. The companies that are registered with workers in high, in the General Regime and the Special Regime of the Mining of Coal, the last day of the month are counted. The information is disaggregated for Canary Islands. In this case it is important to note that due to the accounting method, the number of companies per island will always be higher than the total number of companies in the Canary Islands, since a company may have several listing accounts located on different islands. The definition of the characteristic activities of tourism has been carried out as provided in the document "Measuring Employment in the Tourism Industries - Guide with Best Practices" of the World Tourism Organization.
