Estonian Strategic Noise Maps (WMS)

The service was created to promote and disclose strategic noise data. Strategic noise maps of cities with more than 100000 inhabitants (Tallinn and Tartu) and main roads on car, tram, train, aircraft traffic and industrial sources are presented with the following benchmarks: 1) day-evening-night noise indicator or Lden – the long-term average sound pressure level determined on the basis of all daily, evening and night-time sound pressure levels of the year, which is an indicator of general noise disturbance; 2) daily noise indicator (Lday) means the long-term average sound pressure level determined on the basis of all daytimes of the year, which characterises the disturbing effects of noise on the day between 7:00 and 19.00; 3) evening noise indicator or Levening – the long-term average sound pressure level determined on the basis of all evening times of the year, which characterises the disturbing effects of noise in the evening from 19.00 to 23.00; 4) night noise indicator or Lnight – the long-term average sound pressure level determined on the basis of all night periods of the year, which is an indicator of noise that violates sleep peace and characterises the disturbance of sleep peace at night from 23:00 to 7:00. Map layers: Strategic noise maps for 2017 have been compiled on the basis of 2015 data. The 2022 strategic noise maps are based on 2020-2021 data. National noise maps for 2022 are compiled for noise indicators Ld and Ln at 2 m (road noise, rail noise, industrial noise, total noise) The data is updated once every 5 years.
